 SWAN VALLEY PSYCHOLOGY CENTRE provides a specialised clinical service for clients with a range of problems, from INFANT to ADULT 

ADULTS 

  • Anxiety disorders 
  • Mood disorders (eg depression)
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Alcohol, other drug issues, Internet addiction and gambling issues
  • Eating disorders/Lack of motivation to lose weight  
  • Chronic pain and subsequent rehabilitation including back to work psychological assistance

FORMAL ASSESSMENTS 

A number of differing clinical assessments can be conducted. These include: 

  • Medico-Legal assessments for Workers Compensation and Insurance, and Family Court requests. Family Court requests may include:- Assessment of parenting and parenting capacity, including psychiatric concerns and assessment of the parents’ relationship with each other and the child/children.
  • Assessment for autism spectrum disorders – children to adult 
  • Cognitive assessments
  • Assessment of learning problems such as dyslexia 
  • Assessment for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder/Attention Deficit Disorder
  • Assessment for employee difficulties at work  (eg. City councils).

​​​EATING DISORDERS

The Australian Centre for Eating Disorders provides training to Professionals in the area of eating disorders. 
Christina has undergone intensive training in the area of eating disorders including Binge eating, Anorexia and Bulimia and Orthorexia Nervosa. 

Treatment for eating disorders at Swan Valley Psychology Centre follows the Cognitive Behaviour Treatment Model of Christopher Fairbairn and also the Maudsley Method for Anorexia Nervosa.  
Clients will learn practical and effective skills to help them deal with their eating disorder along with the exploration of interpersonal dynamics and intergenerational issues that have contributed to the disorder.  Comorbidity with other mental health disorders is also taken into account at assessment and in treatment.

TREATMENT APPROACHES

A range of psychological treatment approaches are used including:- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (for PTSD), Solution Focussed Therapy, Family Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (includes Mindfulness), Interpersonal and Behavioural Therapy.

FEE STRUCTURE

In accordance with the Australian Psychological Society Guidelines fees can vary depending on the psychologist consulted. See website or telephone the Centre for details.
